The cost of surgery is increasing in certain countries, and when it is not accompanied by superior results, many patients wonder what to do.
Medical tourism allows patients to travel to other countries where they can receive affordable care, experience short wait times, and more.
Bariatrics Health Mexico in Puerto Vallarta, Jal., welcomes worldwide patients who want to reap the benefits of medical tourism.
Not From Mexico? No Problem! Virtual Consultations Are Available
We want bariatric surgery and medical care to be a viable option for patients, no matter where they're from. If you're curious about surgery, you can complete a free virtual consultation from the comfort of your own home. You'll only have to come to Puerto Vallarta, Jal., for your procedure.
Medical Tourism Is Booming
According to Medical Tourism Mexico, 1.2 million Americans travel to Mexico for health care each year. This makes Mexico the world's second most popular destination for medical tourism, following Thailand. Since Thailand is an expensive plane ticket away, Mexico is often the first place Americans and Canadians turn to for affordable medical care.
While patients have turned to Mexico for affordable cosmetic surgery and elective procedures in the past, more people are choosing medical tourism to take advantage of low prices and the same quality of care for a variety of health care procedures. Now, Mexico caters to patients who desire affordable bariatric surgery, dental work, and more.
Medical Tourism For You and Your Family
Why Patients All Over the World Are Choosing Medical Tourism With Us
The Puerto Vallarta International Airport offers direct flights to and from many popular cities in the U.S. and Canada, making it a convenient location for your bariatric surgery.
We offer packages for our bariatric procedures that include the price of your surgery, a one-night hospital stay, a four-night hotel stay, transportation, medications, nutritionist consultation, EKG, lab tests, and more. These packages are for five days with time to explore the area on an off day.
We use the latest developments in the field of bariatrics to provide patients with safe, effective surgeries. We even use the da Vinci® XI surgical system to improve precision and minimize complications.
Once you arrive in Puerto Vallarta, you won't have to worry about getting around or finding a place to stay—that will all be taken care of. We offer transportation to get you to and from the airport, hospital, and hotel.
We understand that patients may be hesitant to receive medical care with a team that doesn't speak their native language. Eighty percent of the medical staff at Bariatrics Health Mexico is bilingual so you can feel confident about your health care.
The main benefit of medical tourism is low prices. Our procedures cost $4,600-$6,500, much lower than you could expect to pay in the United States and Canada for the same procedures.

Understanding Insurance in Mexico
Like many practices in Mexico, we don't accept medical insurance from American or Canadian providers. However, you may still pay less for your procedure without insurance than you would in your home country with insurance. This results in many patients choosing Mexico for everything from cosmetic surgery to gastric sleeve surgery.
Surgery in a Stunning Destination Turn Your Medical Tourism Into a Vacation
Your stay in Puerto Vallarta doesn't have to be strictly business. In fact, many of our medical tourists schedule time to explore the area and experience all it has to offer. A prime location in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta has stunning beaches, beautiful weather, an appreciation for the arts, and breathtaking sunsets. Some of our medical tourists even spend some of their time recovering on the beach.
Can I bring my family with me?
Yes. Many patients bring their families along with them during their medical travel so they can have a short vacation together in Puerto Vallarta.
How does the medical travel process work?
To book your surgery date, you must pay a 10% down payment. When you arrive in Mexico, the Bariatrics Health Mexico team will transport you to your hotel. The next day, you will complete all preliminary tests at the hospital. You can then undergo your bariatric procedure. Your total payment is due on the day of your surgery. You will spend one night recovering in the hospital where medical staff can monitor you but can spend the rest of your time in your hotel room or on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta with your family.
How do I prepare for medical tourism?
Medical tourism is similar to regular tourism, in that you'll need to do a few things before you can come to us in Mexico. We recommend getting/updating your passport, acquiring Mexican pesos, and properly completing a Multiple Migratory Form, which may be provided to you by the airline.
